Introduction

We are seeking a warm, engaging, and professional Seasonal Hostess to join our team during our busy season. As the first point of contact for our guests, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring every guest enjoys an exceptional dining experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests warmly upon arrival and create a positive first impression.

  • Escort guests to their assigned dining or bar areas in a courteous and timely manner.

  • Manage reservations and maintain accurate records of seating arrangements.

  • Present menus to guests and introduce their designated waiter or waitress.

  • Greet and thank guests upon their departure, ensuring a pleasant end to their visit.

  • Coordinate with the wait staff to monitor table availability and optimize seating flow.

  • Maintain the hostess desk and reception area in a clean, organized, and professional manner.

  • Provide attentive service to guests requiring special attention (e.g., children, elderly, or guests with accessibility needs).

  • Answer incoming calls promptly, handle inquiries, and assist with reservations or guest requests.

  • Support the service team with additional tasks as required to ensure smooth operations.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Grade 12 (Matric); a Hospitality Certificate or Diploma will be an advantage.

  • Preferably 1–2 years of previous hostess or front-of-house experience.

  • Strong understanding of restaurant etiquette and customer service standards.

  • Familiarity with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.

  • Proven experience in managing reservations and guest flow.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both in-person and by phone).

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.

  • Able to work effectively within a team and handle high-pressure situations.

  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.

  • Good physical condition; able to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Confident and comfortable interacting with distinguished clientele.

  • Well-groomed, professional appearance and a friendly, enthusiastic personality.

  • Demonstrates flexibility, accountability, and a positive attitude.
