Our client is a global leader in reliable networking devices and accessories, and an international distributor is currently looking for a Product Testing and Returns Technician for their Midrand office. The Product Testing and Returns Technician is responsible for assessing, testing, and preparing returned equipment from distributors, clients, and internal departments. This role ensures that all returned products are correctly evaluated, documented, and processed according to company standards – whether restocked, repaired, or reported for further action. The position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of product quality, supporting customer satisfaction, and contributing to the efficiency of the returns process. Required Qualification, Skills, and Experience
  • Minimum: Matric/ Grade 12 Certificate
  • Preferred: Diploma or Certification in IT, Electronics, or related technical field.
  • Strong technical understanding of networking products, (e.g. routers, switches, access points, cameras, etc.).
  • Ability to perform hardware troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
  • Proficiency in handling, testing, and resetting electronic
  • Excellent attention to detail when inspecting, recording, and repackaging stock.
  • Previous experience in product testing, technical support, or IT hardware repairs.
  • Familiarity with RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization)
  • Knowledge of Networking and CCTV Products and configurations.
  • Experience working in a distribution, warehouse, or service centre environment.
Key Responsibilities Test and evaluate returned equipment received from distributors, clients, or internal Process two main types of returns: RMA Returns and Sample Stock Returns:
  • RMA Returns
  • Test faulty or damage stock.
  • Identify and verify whether issues can be replicated or confirmed as faulty.
  • Where no fault is found, compile and issue a report explaining the findings.
  • Sample Stock Returns:
  • Test returned sample stock to confirm functionality.
  • Inspect packaging and accessories for completeness.
  • Reset units to factory settings and prepare them for reallocation or storage.
  • Inspect unused returned stock and determine eligibility for reintegration into inventory.
  • Communicate with clients and internal teams regarding RMA outcomes and stock ready for collection.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of testing outcomes, return reasons, and stock status.
  • Provide regular progress updates and ensure timely completion of testing and reporting.
  • Report recuring product issues or faults to the technical support team for escalation and analysis.
